Frequently Asked Questions
What is FRV?
FRV (FanRankedValue) is our way of representing the relative value of players compared to one another. Players with higher FRV are considered more valuable, while players with lower FRV are considered less valuable.
FRV is dynamically adjusted with every vote, and the current FRV of the two players being voted on will determine how their values will change after the vote is cast. A player with a higher/lower FRV is expected to win/lose the vote, so they will see their ranking increase/decrease by a smaller amount if the user votes as the FRV ranking would suggest. The opposite is true, so if a player who is not expected to win/lose ends up winning/losing, the change in FRV will be more substantial.
FRV is represented on a scale of 20-80, similar to how prospects are traditionally ranked in the minor leagues. All players were assigned an initial value based on the average dynasty rankings of popular sources on September 30th, 2024 and have since been 100% user adjusted through the voting module.
Player Universe
FanRanked has a total player universe of approximately 500 players that consists only of players currently affiliated with a Major League Organization. Other players may be considered in the future, however FanRanked is focused solely on MLB affiliated players at this time.
Player Additions
With the exception of the FYPD, all newly added players will be assigned at an initial FRV of 35. FYPD will be assigned initial FRV’s based on their draft position. These values are TBD.
Players will be considered for addition to the player pool based on user suggestions. To suggest a player for the player pool, please reach out to @fanranked on Twitter/X to let us know who you think should be included.
Player Deletions
Players who drop below 20 FRV will be considered for removal from FanRanked. This will be assessed on a case by case basis. Other potential reasons for removal from the rankings include retirement, signing an overseas contract, lifetime bans, etc.
Prospects
Prospects are highlighted in red text, and are considered prospects if they are still rookie eligible according to MLB’s eligibility rules.
