Top 10 Dynasty Ranking Changes - Spring Training Edition (March 21st, 2025)
Dynasty Fantasy Baseball: Spring 2025 Player Value Trends
Spring training has given us plenty to overreact to, and voters on FanRanked have already contributed to significant value changes based on what we've seen. Let's dig into some notable players, their recent performances, and how their stock is trending according to FanRanked Value (FRV).
Here is a summary of the top 10 movers in each direction:
Stock Rising
Luis Robert Jr. (Rank: 65, +73 spots, +11.03 FRV)
Robert Jr. is the #1 mover on FanRanked since spring training began with a very strong showing, already belting two home runs with a massive 1.500 OPS. While 2024 saw him hit a disappointing .224 with 14 homers and 35 RBIs, his underlying metrics (90.1 mph exit velocity) still hinted at elite power. While a down 2024 on a historically bad Chicago White Sox team may have knocked off some of his allure, his hot spring and trade rumors involving the Phillies and Mariners may be getting people excited about his dynasty prospects again.
Bubba Chandler (Rank: 96, +58 spots, +9.12 FRV)
Chandler showcased dominant stuff in spring, backing up what FanGraphs said about him in their scouting report:
"Chandler’s fastball is his best pitch. He hammers the top of the zone with it, and it generated plus chase and miss in 2024. He was still sitting 95-98 at the very end of the season, even as he set a career-high mark for innings, and he has been in the 96-99 mph range during the spring of 2025."
Coming off a strong 2024 (10-7, 3.08 ERA, 148 Ks), he's becoming a high-ceiling arm and pushed himself into being a top 3 SP prospect on FanRanked, only behind Jackson Jobe and Andrew Painter.
AJ Smith-Shawver (Rank: 232, +182 spots, +8.51 FRV)
Smith-Shawver has forced Atlanta's hand this spring, striking out 8 in four innings against the Twins on March 15th. He is currently fighting with Grant Holmes and Ian Anderson for the final spots in the rotation, but don't be surprised if he starts the season on the outside looking in. Don't forget, Smith-Shawver is still only 22 years old and has strong prospect pedigree, so some of this ranking change could be related to his value being driven too far down by FanRanked voters before Spring Training began.
Stock Falling
Gerrit Cole (Rank: 147, -89 spots, -14.16 FRV)
Cole was already having an uneven spring before he got the news that he would be missing the 2025 season due to Tommy John surgery. At 34 years old, his value is understandably plummeting, forcing dynasty managers into tough decisions regarding his future.
Charlie Condon (Rank: 166, -74 spots, -9.58 FRV)
The Rockies' top 2024 pick faces a setback with a non-displaced fracture to his left wrist expected to sideline him until at least May. Combined with last season's struggles (.180 average), managers may be starting to waver on his value. As someone who was thought to be the #1 FYPD by some when he landed in Colorado, this might be a buying opportunity for patient managers. However, don't be surprised when the numbers aren't strong when he comes back, as wrist injuries tend to sap power if there are any lingering effects.
